Microsoft's Cloud Operations & Innovation (CO+I) division is seeking a Critical Environment Mechanical Engineer to join their world-class infrastructure team. This role is integral to maintaining and developing Microsoft's vast network of datacenters that power services like Azure, Office 365, Xbox, and Bing.

The position offers an exciting opportunity to work with cutting-edge datacenter technology across Microsoft's global portfolio of more than 200 datacenters in 32 countries. You'll be part of a team supporting infrastructure that serves over 1 billion customers and 20 million businesses worldwide. The role combines hands-on technical expertise with strategic thinking, as you'll be responsible for both day-to-day operations and long-term infrastructure planning.

As a Critical Environment Mechanical Engineer, you'll work alongside industry professionals in IT and Critical Environments, ensuring 24/7 datacenter operations. You'll serve as a technical authority for mechanical systems, collaborate on new datacenter designs, and establish crucial maintenance and safety procedures. Environmental sustainability and optimization are key focuses, making this role perfect for engineers passionate about efficient, scalable infrastructure.

Responsibilities For Critical Environment Mechanical Engineer

  • Learn, grow, and develop new skills
  • Empower a culture of safety, security, and compliance in data center activities
  • Understand the design and functionality of datacenter
  • Support 24x7x365 on-site datacenter operations and mechanical infrastructures
  • Act as technical authority for on-site operations of large-scale mechanical systems and designs
  • Collaborate with Operations and Design team on data center mechanical designs
  • Establish and coordinate maintenance & safety procedures
  • Steward vital infrastructure supporting Microsoft's online services
  • Assist with supplier selection and overseeing mechanical supplier execution
  • Lead through change by bringing clarity, generating energy, and delivering success

Requirements For Critical Environment Mechanical Engineer

  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field AND 2+ years related technical engineering experience
  • OR Master's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field AND 1+ years related technical engineering experience
  • Must pass Microsoft Cloud Background Check
  • Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements
