Description For Critical Environment Technician Manager

Microsoft's Cloud Operations & Innovation (CO+I) division is seeking a Critical Environment Technician Manager to join their world-class data center operations team. This role combines technical leadership with people management, overseeing critical infrastructure that powers Microsoft's global cloud services including Azure, Office 365, and Xbox.

The position requires a skilled professional who can manage both technical systems and team members effectively. You'll be responsible for maintaining and operating complex data center equipment across electrical, mechanical, and control systems while leading a team of technicians. The role involves ensuring 24/7 operational reliability of mission-critical infrastructure, responding to emergencies, and maintaining the highest standards of safety and security.

Responsibilities For Critical Environment Technician Manager

  • Manage and lead team members through modeling, coaching, and caring
  • Oversee complex equipment and systems operations across electrical, mechanical, and controls disciplines
  • Monitor and maintain critical environment-related facility equipment
  • Lead incident response teams and coordinate emergency responses
  • Perform and oversee various types of maintenance and repairs
  • Coordinate with third-party contractors and vendors
  • Develop and review operating procedures and technical documentation
  • Ensure safety and security requirements are met

Requirements For Critical Environment Technician Manager

  • High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent AND 3+ years mission-critical services work experience
  • Ability to work 12-hour shifts, including non-standard business hours
  • Must pass Microsoft Cloud Background Check
  • Physical requirements including occasional lifting 50lbs, climbing ladders, and prolonged standing
  • Normal visual acuity and color vision
