Description For Data Engineer

Microsoft Cloud Operations and Innovation (CO&I) is seeking a Data Engineer to join their Global Project Controls (GPC) team, which is responsible for delivering core datacenter infrastructure for Microsoft's cloud business. This role combines technical expertise in data engineering with strategic oversight of data governance initiatives.

The position offers a competitive base salary range of $117,200 - $229,200 USD (higher in SF Bay Area and NYC: $153,600 - $250,200) and comes with comprehensive benefits including healthcare, educational resources, and parental leave. The role is available in multiple hub locations including Redmond, Atlanta, San Antonio, Phoenix, and Washington DC, with flexible remote work options up to 100%.

As a Data Engineer, you'll be responsible for implementing comprehensive data governance systems that support cost, planning, risk, and estimating teams within GPC. Key responsibilities include designing data architectures, developing efficient pipelines, establishing governance frameworks, and ensuring data quality across the organization. You'll work closely with Engineering teams to implement integrated data solutions and drive data-driven decision-making.

The ideal candidate should have at least 4 years of relevant experience, with proven expertise in data governance and master data management, particularly in the Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) sector. Strong technical skills in SQL, Azure, and data pipeline architecture are essential, as is experience with PowerBI reporting and cross-functional project management.

Responsibilities For Data Engineer

  • Define and prioritize program goals for Project Controls master data
  • Design and implement integrated data solutions
  • Establish performance metrics and implement telemetry tools

Requirements For Data Engineer

Python
  • Bachelor's Degree AND 4+ years experience in engineering, product/technical program management, data analysis, or product development OR equivalent experience
  • 2+ years experience managing cross-functional and/or cross-team projects
  • 2+ years experience developing PowerBI reports and/or digital work flows
  • Proven experience in data governance, master data management, and data quality assurance within the EPC industry
  • Must pass Microsoft Cloud Background Check
