Microsoft Cloud Operations and Innovation (CO&I) is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer for their Datacenter Engineering team in Kuala Lumpur. This role is crucial for delivering core datacenter infrastructure for Microsoft's cloud business. The position involves on-site presence at Microsoft's Kuala Lumpur datacenter campus, overseeing construction activities and ensuring quality design implementation across multiple concurrent datacenter builds.

The ideal candidate will have at least 4 years of technical engineering experience, with a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering. They will be responsible for monitoring construction progress, providing technical direction, and working closely with engineering, procurement, controls, and construction teams. The role requires strong expertise in mechanical systems, including air handlers, pumps, chillers, and fans, as well as knowledge of Building Automation Systems.

Responsibilities For Datacenter Engineering Senior Mechanical Engineer

  • Serve as on-site mechanical engineering and project management representative
  • Perform regular site walks to observe progress and review construction
  • Work closely with MSFT site personnel
  • Review construction drawings, specifications, design guides/standards
  • Support submittal review, RFI responses, and commissioning activities
  • Monitor progress for compliance with construction documents
  • Provide project management and technical direction

Requirements For Datacenter Engineering Senior Mechanical Engineer

  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field
  • 4+ years related technical engineering experience
  • Ability to review construction drawings, project specifications, and equipment submittals
  • Strong experience with design and operation of air handlers, pumps, chillers, fans, and mechanical systems
  • Knowledge of construction techniques and terminology
  • Working knowledge of Building Automation Systems (BAS), Direct-Digital Control (DDC), and PLCs
  • Strong leadership competencies
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills
  • Must pass Microsoft Cloud Background Check
