Microsoft's Cloud Operations and Innovation (CO&I) team is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer for their datacenter operations in Boydton, VA. This role is crucial for the development and maintenance of Microsoft's cloud infrastructure, requiring 100% on-site presence and offering a competitive salary range of $117,200 - $229,200.

The position demands a strong background in mechanical engineering with at least 4 years of experience, focusing on datacenter construction and mechanical systems. The successful candidate will serve as the primary on-site mechanical engineering representative, overseeing construction activities, performing regular site inspections, and ensuring compliance with design specifications.

Responsibilities For Datacenter Engineering Senior Mechanical Engineer

  • Serve as on-site mechanical engineering representative for datacenter campus development
  • Perform regular site walks to observe progress and review construction
  • Work closely with MSFT site personnel and attend construction meetings
  • Review construction drawings, specifications, and commissioning documents
  • Support submittal review and RFI responses
  • Facilitate timely response and enable seamless project execution

Requirements For Datacenter Engineering Senior Mechanical Engineer

  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field with 4+ years experience, or Master's with 3+ years experience, or Doctorate
  • Must be able to work onsite 100% in Boydton, VA
  • Experience with building construction environment
  • Must pass Microsoft Cloud background check
  • Registered Professional Mechanical Engineer (preferred)
  • Strong experience with air handlers, pumps, chillers, fans, and mechanical systems
  • Knowledge of construction techniques and terminology
  • Working knowledge of Building Automation Systems (BAS), Direct-Digital Control (DDC), and PLCs
