Microsoft Cloud Operations and Innovation (CO&I) is seeking a senior Chartered electrical Subject Matter Expert to join their Data Centre Engineering team. This role focuses on delivering core electrical engineering expertise for Microsoft's global cloud infrastructure. The position involves managing complex datacenter electrical systems, collaborating with internal and external stakeholders, and ensuring compliance with Microsoft's standards. The ideal candidate will bring extensive experience in datacenter and substation electrical engineering, with a strong background in mission-critical environments. Responsibilities For Electrical Engineer - Data Centre

  • Provide technical expertise for data centre projects including new construction and upgrades
  • Manage and review external design consultants
  • Collaborate with Global Technical Excellence team
  • Perform technical reviews of electrical and controls design documents
  • Lead electrical designs and oversee multiple concurrent data centre design solutions
  • Support network growth/upgrade existing site refresh projects across EMEA region
  • Conduct Factory Witness Testing and final commissioning of installed systems
  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders

Requirements For Electrical Engineer - Data Centre

  • Chartered electrical engineer with expertise in data center electrical power engineering
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related field
  • Experience in mission critical projects
  • In-depth knowledge of electrical systems including UPS, diesel generators, electrical switchgear
  • Knowledge of data centre and substation design
  • Strong leadership competencies
  • Experience managing internal and external vendors
  • Strong interpersonal, communication and presentation skills
  • Ability to travel domestically and internationally
  • Must pass Microsoft Cloud background check
