Description For Fiber Delivery Engineer

Microsoft is seeking a Fiber Delivery Engineer to join their Cloud Interconnection + Acquisitions (CI+A) Team. This role is crucial in building and maintaining Microsoft's world-class network infrastructure, working specifically with Metro Dark Fiber, Long-Haul Fiber, subsea, and Lit Wave circuits. The position offers flexible workplace arrangements, allowing for partial or full remote work.

As part of Microsoft's Cloud Operations & Innovation (CO+I) division, you'll play a key role in delivering core infrastructure and foundational technologies that power Microsoft's major services including Bing, Office 365, Xbox, OneDrive, and the Microsoft Azure platform. The infrastructure spans over 200 datacenters across 32 countries, serving more than 1 billion customers and 20 million businesses globally.

The role combines technical expertise with project management, requiring skills in both engineering and coordination. You'll work closely with external suppliers and internal teams, managing complex network capacity delivery projects, conducting quality assurance, and ensuring compliance with Microsoft's fiber standards. Responsibilities For Fiber Delivery Engineer

  • Providing commercial team support with technical expertise and drawings for diversity, POE identification and internal routing
  • Managing frontline technical projects with external suppliers
  • Communicating status and producing reports to cross-functional teams and Leadership
  • Managing risks and producing mitigation options using market intelligence
  • Conducting quality assurance inspections
  • Managing remediation activities with supplier and Fiber Characterization Team
  • Reviewing FC Results and ensuring compliance with Microsoft Core Fiber Standards

Requirements For Fiber Delivery Engineer

  • Bachelor's Degree AND 2+ years experience in engineering, construction and/or technical program management, OR equivalent experience
  • 1+ year(s) experience managing cross-functional and/or cross-team projects
  • 1+ year(s) outside plant (OSP) experience
  • Proficiency in English is required
  • Must pass Microsoft Cloud Background Check
