Description For Fiber Delivery Engineer

Microsoft's Cloud Operations & Innovation (CO+I) team is seeking a Fiber Delivery Engineer to join their Cloud Interconnection + Acquisitions (CI+A) Team. This role is crucial in building world-class network infrastructure, working with Metro Dark Fiber, Long-Haul Fiber, subsea, and Lit Wave circuits. The position offers flexible work arrangements with up to 100% work from home options.

As part of CO+I, you'll be instrumental in delivering core infrastructure for Microsoft's major services including Bing, Office 365, Xbox, OneDrive, and Azure. The infrastructure spans over 200 datacenters in 32 countries, supporting more than 1 billion customers and 20 million businesses globally.

The role combines technical expertise with project management, requiring skills in OSP engineering, construction management, and technical documentation. You'll work closely with external suppliers and internal teams, managing complex network capacity delivery projects while ensuring compliance with Microsoft's standards.

This position offers competitive compensation ($98,300 - $193,200) and comprehensive benefits. Responsibilities For Fiber Delivery Engineer

  • Provide commercial team support with technical expertise and drawings
  • Manage technical projects with external suppliers
  • Track construction schedules and produce reports
  • Communicate status to cross-functional teams and Leadership
  • Manage risks and produce mitigation options
  • Conduct quality assurance inspections
  • Manage remediation activities with suppliers
  • Review FC Results and ensure compliance with Microsoft Core Fiber Standards
  • Produce as-build documentation including technical schematics

Requirements For Fiber Delivery Engineer

  • Bachelor's Degree AND 2+ years experience in engineering, product/technical program management, data analysis, or product development OR equivalent experience
  • 1+ year(s) experience managing cross-functional and/or cross-team projects
  • 2+ years' experience in outside plant (OSP) engineering or construction
  • Must pass Microsoft Cloud background check
  • Must relocate or reside within 50 miles of Dallas, Texas
