Description For Hardware Engineering IC4

Microsoft Cloud Operations and Innovation (CO&I) is seeking a Hardware Engineering IC4 position based in Paris, France. This role is part of the Datacenter Engineering (DCE) team, responsible for delivering core datacenter infrastructure for Microsoft's cloud business. The position offers a hybrid work arrangement with up to 50% work from home capability and involves 0-25% travel.

The role focuses on datacenter civil engineering, requiring leadership in coordinating and directing civil engineering works for datacenter development. The successful candidate will be involved in all phases of projects, from site due diligence and masterplanning through detailed design and construction to final handover. They will work closely with Global Technical Excellence teams, Strategy teams, and DCE Operations Team to develop datacenter designs from initial concept to completion.

The position demands collaboration with internal and external stakeholders, including professional engineers, architects, and various teams across the organization. The role offers significant opportunity for career and technical growth, allowing the individual to provide technical direction and contribute to Microsoft's industry-leading datacenter designs.

Key responsibilities include providing civil design support, directing technical delivery of multiple concurrent datacenter projects, and ensuring alignment with project scopes, schedules, and budgets. Responsibilities For Hardware Engineering IC4

  • Provide leadership and coordinated direction for civil engineering works for datacenter development
  • Support civil design from Site Due Diligence through construction to handover
  • Collaborate with Global Technical Excellence team and Strategy teams
  • Direct the Civils technical delivery of multiple datacenter design solutions
  • Provide technical direction to vendors including civil engineers, architects and structural engineers
  • Collaborate with Site Selection, Operations, Security, and Design teams
  • Work on lease portfolio, AI design, retrofits and upgrades of existing facilities
  • Apply best practice in Health & Safety throughout the project lifecycle
