Description For Mechanical Engineer

Microsoft's Cloud Operations & Innovation (CO+I) is seeking a Mechanical Engineer to join their team responsible for delivering core infrastructure and foundational technologies for Microsoft's cloud services. The role is based in Gävle, Sweden, and is part of managing a global portfolio of more than 200 datacenters across 32 countries. The position focuses on mechanical engineering within datacenter operations, requiring expertise in facility environments, heating and cooling systems, and critical infrastructure maintenance. The ideal candidate will contribute to Microsoft's mission of empowering every person and organization globally while working with cutting-edge technology in a culture that values growth mindset, innovation, and collaboration. Responsibilities For Mechanical Engineer

  • Empower a culture of safety, security, and compliance in all aspect of data center activities
  • Understand the design and functionality of datacenter
  • Support 24x7x365 on-site datacenter operations and mechanical infrastructures
  • Act as technical authority for on-site operations of large-scale mechanical systems and designs
  • Collaborate with Operations and Design team for data center mechanical designs
  • Establish and coordinate maintenance & safety procedures
  • Steward vital infrastructure supporting Microsoft's online services
  • Assist with supplier selection and overseeing mechanical supplier execution
  • Lead through change by bringing clarity, generating energy, and delivering success

Requirements For Mechanical Engineer

Linux
Kubernetes
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Process Engineering or related field
  • Very Strong technical engineering experience
  • Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements
  • Must pass Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire and every two years
