Description For Mechanical Engineer

Microsoft's Cloud Operations & Innovation (CO+I) is seeking a Mechanical Engineer to join their team responsible for powering cloud services across a global portfolio of more than 200 datacenters in 32 countries. This role is critical in managing and maintaining the mechanical infrastructure that supports Microsoft's massive cloud operations serving over 1 billion customers worldwide.

As a Mechanical Engineer, you'll be responsible for ensuring the optimal operation of large-scale mission-critical mechanical systems in datacenter environments. The position requires technical expertise in mechanical engineering, with a focus on infrastructure management, system design, and operational excellence. You'll work closely with commissioning teams, manage maintenance procedures, and support 24/7 datacenter operations.

The ideal candidate will combine technical proficiency with strong leadership and communication skills, as you'll be interacting with various stakeholders across the organization. Responsibilities For Mechanical Engineer

  • Act as technical authority for on-site operations related to large-scale mission critical mechanical systems
  • Manage mechanical infrastructures throughout datacenter campus
  • Work with commissioning teams to test and validate installation
  • Establish and coordinate maintenance and safety procedures
  • Support 24x7x365 on-site datacenters operations
  • Empower culture of safety, security, and compliance
  • Work cross-functionally to maximize business results

Requirements For Mechanical Engineer

  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field AND 2+ years related technical engineering experience
  • OR Master's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field AND 1+ years related technical engineering experience
  • Must pass Microsoft Cloud Background Check
  • Citizenship verification required
  • Working knowledge of Building Automation Systems (BAS)
  • Interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills
  • Ability to work with technical and non-technical groups
