Description For Mechanical Supplier Quality Engineer

Microsoft Cloud Operations and Innovation (CO&I) is seeking a Mechanical Supplier Quality Engineer to join their Engineering Procurement and Construction (EPC) team in the APAC region. This role is crucial in delivering core datacenter infrastructure for Microsoft's cloud business. The position involves ensuring high-quality equipment delivery through supplier collaboration, conducting audits, and overseeing quality control processes.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in Mechanical Engineering with experience in supplier quality assurance and manufacturing processes. They will be responsible for conducting supply audits, evaluating manufacturing processes, monitoring supplier performance, and leading quality improvement initiatives. The role requires significant travel (50-75%) and offers the flexibility of up to 100% remote work.

Responsibilities For Mechanical Supplier Quality Engineer

  • Conduct supply audits to ensure compliance with Microsoft's quality standards
  • Evaluate and approve supplier manufacturing processes and quality control procedures
  • Monitor supplier performance using data-driven KPIs
  • Review supplier documentation and test reports
  • Participate in factory acceptance testing (FAT) and factory witness testing (FWT)
  • Lead Root Cause Analysis (RCA) efforts for supplier related quality issues
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives with suppliers
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to align supplier quality expectations

Requirements For Mechanical Supplier Quality Engineer

  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field with 2+ years technical engineering experience, OR Master's Degree with 1+ years experience
  • Lean 6 Sigma Greenbelt / Gemba experience (preferred)
  • Technical experience with data center operations, Engineering Procurement Construction (EPC), or mission critical equipment (preferred)
  • ASQ Certification (preferred)
