Description For Member of Technical Staff - Data Engineer

Microsoft AI (MS AI) is seeking an experienced Data Engineer to help build the next wave of capabilities for their personal AI, Copilot. This role is part of Microsoft's ambitious vision to build systems with true artificial intelligence across agents, applications, services, and infrastructure. The Data Engineering team is responsible for building data platforms that support finetuning and deploying the core Copilot experience.

The ideal candidate will combine technical prowess with a methodical approach to problem-solving, bringing expertise in data technologies and solution architecture. Working in a hybrid environment across major tech hubs (New York, San Francisco Bay Area, or Seattle), you'll collaborate with Product Management, Design, and AI Research teams to shape the future of AI accessibility.

This position offers competitive compensation ranging from $153,600 to $294,000 in premium markets, along with comprehensive benefits. Responsibilities For Member of Technical Staff - Data Engineer

  • Build secure and performant AI Platform services that power Copilot
  • Work collaboratively with Platform, infrastructure, application engineers and AI Researchers
  • Ship high-quality, well-tested, secure, and maintainable code
  • Find solutions to overcome roadblocks and deliver iteratively
  • Work in a fast-paced, design-driven product development cycle

Requirements For Member of Technical Staff - Data Engineer

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Math, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related field AND 4+ years experience
  • 2+ years experience building scalable services on public cloud infrastructure (Azure, AWS, GCP)
  • 2+ years experience building data warehouse systems at scale
  • Extensive database knowledge including data governance, data collectors, fact tables
  • Experience with RDBMS and key-value stores
