Description For Member of Technical Staff - Platform Engineer

Microsoft AI (MAI) is seeking experienced Platform Engineers to join their team building the next generation of Copilot capabilities for Windows. This role is part of a newly formed organization dedicated to advancing Copilot and other consumer AI products and research, including Bing, Edge, and generative AI research. As a Platform Engineer, you'll be responsible for designing and implementing cutting-edge solutions while working closely with Platform, Product Management, Design, and Research teams.

The position requires strong technical expertise in building scalable services and distributed systems, with hands-on experience in languages like Python, C#, C++, RUST, and Java. You'll be working with cloud infrastructure platforms and various datastores to create robust backend solutions that power Windows Copilot experiences. The role demands both technical prowess and excellent collaboration skills, as you'll be working across multiple teams to deliver high-quality, secure, and performant solutions.

  • Ship high-quality, well-tested, secure, and maintainable code
  • Overcome obstacles to deliver work quickly and iteratively to users

Requirements For Member of Technical Staff - Platform Engineer

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, or related technical discipline AND 4+ years technical engineering experience
  • Experience with Python, C#, C++, RUST, Java
  • 4+ years experience building scalable services on public cloud infrastructure (Azure, AWS, GCP)
  • 4+ years experience building distributed systems at scale
  • Experience with datastores like RDBMS, key-value stores
  • Experience working with AI platforms, frameworks, and APIs
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
