Description For Power Harvest Electrical Engineer

Microsoft Cloud Operations and Innovation (CO&I) is seeking a Power Harvest Electrical Engineer to join their Datacenter Engineering (DCE) team. This role is crucial in optimizing and innovating datacenter power harvesting solutions through cutting-edge engineering techniques, AI Modeling, and innovative feasibility assessment.

The position offers a unique opportunity to work with diverse Subject Matter Experts in developing and implementing power harvesting strategies for Microsoft's global datacenter infrastructure. You'll be responsible for analyzing datacenter Space, Power, Cooling and Network (SPCN) systems, developing optimization strategies, and ensuring efficient power utilization while maintaining service security.

As a Power Harvest Electrical Engineer, you'll collaborate with various teams to identify and implement power harvesting opportunities, develop creative solutions for capacity optimization, and work on innovative automation solutions. The role requires a strong background in electrical engineering, particularly in datacenter operations, combined with analytical skills and programming knowledge.

The position offers a hybrid work arrangement with up to 50% remote work capability. You'll be based in either Atlanta, GA or Washington, D.C., with relocation support provided. The role comes with competitive compensation ranging from $117,200 to $229,200 per year, along with comprehensive benefits including healthcare, educational resources, and parental leave.

Responsibilities For Power Harvest Electrical Engineer

  • Perform detailed analysis of datacenter Space, Power, Cooling and Network (SPCN) assessment
  • Develop site specific Power Harvesting and Optimization strategy
  • Develop datacenter deployment layout for Commercial Could and GPU
  • Develop engineering models for capacity recovery
  • Work with Global Capacity Planning teams
  • Partner with peer organizations in evaluating datacenter Power Harvesting opportunities
  • Ensure customer load is prioritized in SPCN assessments
  • Communicate technical issues and solutions to non-technical audiences

Requirements For Power Harvest Electrical Engineer

Python
  • 8+ years of technical engineering experience or Bachelor's degree with 5+ years experience or Master's degree with 3+ years experience
  • 5 years experience in electrical engineering, operation of hyperscale datacenters
  • 2 years experience supporting and managing major projects
  • Licensed professional engineer preferred
  • Understanding of datacenter design and operation
  • Knowledge of construction techniques and documentation
  • Python coding experience
  • Experience with building automation and electrical power monitoring systems
