Microsoft Security is seeking a Principal Applied AI Engineer to join their Security AI Research team, focusing on defending Microsoft and customers through applied AI innovation. The position involves working with Microsoft's complex digital estate and leveraging emerging generative AI capabilities to build autonomous defense systems. You'll collaborate with Microsoft's Threat Intelligence Center and Red Team, contributing to a unique knowledge graph that describes the relationship between risk, investigation, and response.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Conducting cutting-edge research in defensive and red teaming AI capabilities
  • Transforming research into effective security solutions
  • Building scalable, reliable, and secure AI systems
  • Collaborating with defenders, threat hunters, PMs, researchers, and engineers
  • Producing high-quality code and conducting design reviews

  • Follow release management policies to ensure data integrity and compliance

Requirements For Principal Applied AI Engineer

Python
  • Bachelor's Degree in Statistics, Econometrics, Computer Science, Electrical or Computer Engineering, or related field AND 6+ years related experience
  • Master's Degree in related field AND 4+ years related experience OR Doctorate AND 3+ years related experience
  • 4+ years of experience in shipping large-scale ML/AI-based services or applications
  • 4+ years of relevant industry experience driving cutting-edge research into real world impact
  • Experience with cloud platforms (Azure, AWS, GCP)
  • Pass Microsoft Cloud Background Check
