Microsoft's Azure Hardware Systems and Infrastructure (AHSI) organization is seeking a Principal Hardware Engineer to join their Strategic Planning and Architecture (SPARC) team. This role is at the forefront of innovating hardware designs for Microsoft's cloud infrastructure growth. The position combines technical expertise in hardware engineering with strategic business insight.

The successful candidate will be responsible for architecting infrastructure around core technologies, particularly accelerator modules, while considering throughput and latency requirements. They will need extensive experience in pre-silicon hardware design and validation, with post-silicon debugging capabilities being a plus. The role requires collaboration with firmware and software teams to develop optimal solutions.

Microsoft offers an industry-leading compensation package, including a competitive salary range of $137,600 - $267,000 (higher in SF Bay Area and NYC), comprehensive benefits, and the opportunity to work on technologies that power major platforms like Azure, Office 365, and Xbox Live. The position offers a hybrid work arrangement with up to 50% work from home flexibility.

The ideal candidate will have 10+ years of technical engineering experience, strong skills in System Verilog, UVM, C, and Python, and knowledge of PCIe and server architectures. They should be comfortable working with open-ended problems and analyzing large datasets from fleet telemetry. This role offers the opportunity to impact Microsoft's global cloud infrastructure while working with cutting-edge hardware technologies.
