Microsoft Silicon, Cloud Hardware, and Infrastructure Engineering (SCHIE) is seeking a Principal Hardware Quality Engineer to join their team. This role is crucial in powering Microsoft's "Intelligent Cloud" mission, delivering core infrastructure and foundational technologies for over 200 online businesses including Bing, MSN, Office 365, Xbox Live, Teams, OneDrive, and the Microsoft Azure platform.
As a Principal Hardware Quality Engineer, you will:
- Lead supplier quality management strategies to ensure the highest quality standards for data center hardware.
- Conduct debug and failure analysis for system-level issues, including GPU problems in the Azure fleet.
- Provide technical guidance to various stakeholders and lead through complex problems.
- Drive continuous improvement processes based on Root Cause Analysis (RCA).
- Analyze telemetry data and provide quality readouts to guide issue resolution.
- Establish Critical-to-Quality performance metrics to improve product quality.
- Act as the voice of quality in hardware change management processes.
- Mentor and develop team members, fostering a culture of excellence and innovation.
The ideal candidate will have:
- A Bachelor's or Master's degree in Reliability Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
- 8+ years of technical engineering experience, with 5+ years working with modern server architectures and their subsystems.
- Strong leadership skills and the ability to collaborate with diverse teams.
- Experience in leading large-scale taskforces to resolve technical problems.
