Description For Principal Security Engineer

Microsoft Security is seeking a Principal Security Engineer to join their Autonomous Defense and Protection Team (ADAPT). This role is at the forefront of defending Microsoft and its customers through applied AI innovation. As part of the Microsoft Security AI Research team, you'll lead the design and deployment of infrastructure supporting cutting-edge security research and autonomous simulation environments.

The position offers a unique opportunity to work with Microsoft's complex digital estate and leverage emerging generative AI capabilities for autonomous defense. You'll collaborate with elite teams like the Microsoft Threat Intelligence Center (MSTIC) and contribute to building a comprehensive knowledge graph linking risk, investigation, and response.

Your responsibilities will focus on developing scalable, secure research environments through infrastructure as code, enabling advanced testing and simulation of adversarial techniques. Working closely with security researchers, applied scientists, and red team operators, you'll enhance experimentation capabilities and streamline operational workflows.

Requirements For Principal Security Engineer

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, or related technical discipline AND 6+ years technical engineering experience
  • 6+ years experience with hands-on deploying attacker infrastructure for red team operations
  • Hands-on experience with Azure, AWS, and GCP environments
  • Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements
  • Verbal and written communication skills
  • Project management skills with proven track record
