Microsoft Security is seeking a Principal Security Engineer to join their mission of making the world a safer place through comprehensive digital security solutions. This role sits within the M365 Security team, focusing on protecting billions of users through Microsoft's productivity applications and emerging AI services like CoPilot. The position offers an opportunity to work with cutting-edge security challenges in AI/CoPilot space, requiring expertise in secure engineering practices and threat mitigation.

The role combines technical leadership with strategic security planning, where you'll drive security incident management, develop secure engineering policies, and guide teams across Microsoft in implementing security best practices. You'll be instrumental in shaping the security architecture of Microsoft's AI platforms and implementations, while mentoring others and representing Microsoft at security conferences.

Responsibilities For Principal Security Engineer

  • Drive understanding and decision making around Security Incidents and the Post Incident Review (PIR) Process
  • Driving Secure Engineering policies, practices, and tooling across user-facing services at Microsoft, including AI platforms
  • Helping guide Engineering Teams across Microsoft on security best practices
  • Collaborating with teams across Microsoft to help define the state of the art for detection, prevention, and elimination of security risks
  • Identifying emerging security problems that need additional focus, and contributing to building solutions
  • Mentoring others inside and outside of Microsoft on building secure platforms and systems
  • Plan and manage an expanding portfolio of security and privacy programs and track associated metrics
  • Create and present plans to management for driving security and privacy objectives across M365 services
  • Represent Microsoft in various customer briefings and security conferences

Requirements For Principal Security Engineer

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 12+ years technical engineering experience
  • Experience with coding in languages including C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python
  • Must pass Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire and every two years
  • Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements
