Description For Prototype Engineer

Microsoft's Silicon, Cloud Hardware, and Infrastructure Engineering (SCHIE) team is seeking a talented Prototype Engineer to join their mission of powering Microsoft's expanding cloud infrastructure. This role is crucial in developing and validating hardware prototypes that support Microsoft's vast network of online services including Azure, Office 365, Xbox Live, and more.

The position offers a unique opportunity to work at the intersection of hardware and software, focusing on early-stage silicon development and prototype validation. You'll be responsible for critical tasks such as initial boot testing, baremetal validation, and enabling production firmware in presilicon environments. This role requires expertise in embedded systems, firmware development, and low-level hardware interfaces.

Requirements For Prototype Engineer

Linux

  • 5+ years of technical engineering experience OR Bachelor's degree with 2+ years experience OR Master's degree with 1+ year experience
  • Experience developing boot loaders, firmware, test code, board support packages, device drivers
  • Good debugging and problem-solving skills
  • Working knowledge of system on chip architecture
  • Must pass Microsoft Cloud Background Check
