Microsoft's Cloud Operations & Innovation (CO+I) is the engine that powers our cloud services. As a Senior Electrical Engineer in the Chief Technology Officer (CTO) Office of CO+I, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and testing new products and solutions that improve the performance, efficiency, and reliability of Microsoft's data centers. You will work with a cross-functional team of engineers, researchers, and business partners to identify customer needs, generate innovative ideas, and deliver high-quality solutions. You will also collaborate with external vendors and suppliers to ensure alignment with Microsoft's standards and specifications.

Key responsibilities include:
- Designing and developing electrical circuits, schematics, layouts, and components for data center power products, such as UPS systems, PDUs, and power converters.
- Performing electrical simulations, analysis, and testing to verify the functionality, performance, and reliability of the products.
- Collaborating with mechanical, thermal, firmware, and software engineers to integrate electrical products into the data center system.
- Troubleshooting and resolving electrical issues and defects during the product development and deployment phases.
- Evaluating and selecting electrical components, vendors, and manufacturing partners for the products.
- Preparing and reviewing technical documentation, specifications, and reports for the products.
- Conducting research and staying updated on the latest trends and technologies in the data center power domain.
Required Qualifications:
- 8+ years of technical engineering experience OR Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related field AND 5+ years of technical engineering experience OR Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related field AND 3+ years of technical engineering experience
- 2+ years experience with mission critical systems like datacenter, healthcare, oil, military, or utilities
- 2+ years experience with designing systems and/or developing products for industrial or mission critical environments
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master's degree in electrical engineering
- Experience with cross-disciplined systems design (IT/Telecom, building controls, supervisory control and data acquisition)
- Experience with Data center thermal systems design, analysis, and optimization of cooling systems for data center environments, hydronics, cooling distribution, liquid to liquid and liquid to air heat exchangers
- Experience with Data Center Electrical Systems design, energy back-up and uninterrupted power supply, medium voltage switch gear, low voltage power distribution
This role is eligible for hybrid or remote work, up to 50%. Relocation support will be provided, and successful candidates must relocate or reside within 50 miles of the hub office location.
