Description For Senior Fiber Delivery Engineer

Microsoft's Cloud Operations & Innovation (CO+I) team is seeking a Senior Fiber Delivery Engineer to join their Cloud Interconnection + Acquisitions (CI+A) Team. This role is crucial in building world-class network infrastructure, working with Metro Dark Fiber, Long-Haul Fiber, subsea, and Lit Wave circuits.

The position offers a flexible workplace arrangement with the option to work remotely up to 100%. As part of CO+I, you'll be at the heart of Microsoft's cloud services, supporting critical infrastructure that powers services like Bing, Office 365, Xbox, OneDrive, and Microsoft Azure. The team manages a massive global portfolio of over 200 datacenters across 32 countries, serving more than 1 billion customers and 20 million businesses worldwide.

The ideal candidate should have at least 4 years of experience in OSP engineering or construction, with a strong background in managing cross-functional projects. You'll be responsible for developing robust operating procedures for Fiber Sourcing and Delivery, managing technical projects with external suppliers, and ensuring governance programs meet performance requirements.

This role offers competitive compensation ranging from $117,200 to $229,200 per year (higher in SF and NYC areas), along with comprehensive benefits including healthcare, educational resources, and parental leave. The position requires 25-50% travel and is based in Dallas, Texas, with relocation support provided.

Responsibilities For Senior Fiber Delivery Engineer

  • Drive alignment to goals and strategy with external customers, vendors, and suppliers
  • Perform market research and conduct analyses of industry trends
  • Partner with stakeholders to propose and design architecture and integrated customer solutions
  • Develop operating procedures for Fiber Sourcing and Delivery segments
  • Manage frontline technical projects with external suppliers
  • Manage governance programs and processes

Requirements For Senior Fiber Delivery Engineer

  • Bachelor's Degree AND 4+ years' experience in engineering, product/technical program management, data analysis, or product development OR equivalent experience
  • 2+ years' experience managing cross-functional and/or cross-team projects
  • 4+ years' experience in outside plant (OSP) engineering or construction
  • Must pass Microsoft Cloud background check
  • Experience with AutoCAD and GIS solutions
  • Experience in managing Dark Fiber Outside Plant Projects
