Microsoft's Azure Silicon Cloud Hardware Infrastructure and Engineering (SCHIE) team is seeking a Senior Firmware Engineer to join their Hardware Security Center of Excellence. This role focuses on designing and implementing security solutions for Azure's server and rack infrastructure firmware. The position involves working with cutting-edge security features, firmware development, and hardware systems that power Microsoft's global Azure business. The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in firmware security, SoC development, and various hardware interfaces. Working in a hybrid environment with up to 50% work from home flexibility, you'll collaborate with Microsoft product groups, industry partners, and researchers to develop security features that enhance Azure's cloud services platforms. Responsibilities For Senior Firmware Engineer

  • Design and implement key Security Features in firmware
  • Define e2e flow of Security Features across multiple server sub-systems from Manufacturing to Azure Services
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to debug issues
  • Incorporate Security Development Lifecycle (SDL) with Test Driven Quality first development
  • Implement firmware modules for USB vNIC, SPI, I2C, PCIe, and other protocols
  • Perform system-level debugging and troubleshooting
  • Develop and maintain firmware architecture
  • Adapt to changing project requirements and prioritize tasks effectively

Requirements For Senior Firmware Engineer

Linux
  • Bachelor's or master's degree in electrical engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science or a related field
  • 8+ years of professional experience in hardware and firmware security
  • Demonstrated experience of hardware and firmware architecture, design and coding for solutions at scale
  • Experience with secure boot, secure firmware updates, Attestation, SPDM, DICE, Secure recovery and secure debug workflows at scale
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Working experience with industry-standard security protocols, cryptographic algorithms, Public key infrastructure
  • Familiarity with Supply Chain Security
