Description For Senior Mechanical Engineer

Microsoft Cloud Operations and Innovation (CO&I) is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer for their Datacenter Engineering team in London. This role is crucial for delivering core datacenter infrastructure for Microsoft's cloud business. The position involves on-site presence at Microsoft's London datacenters, overseeing construction activities, ensuring quality design, and managing multiple concurrent datacenter builds. The ideal candidate will provide technical direction and leadership throughout the construction lifecycle, working closely with engineering, procurement, and construction teams. Responsibilities For Senior Mechanical Engineer

  • Serve as the on-site Mechanical engineering and project management representative
  • Perform regular site walks to observe progress and review construction vs design intent
  • Work closely with MSFT site personnel and attend construction-based meetings
  • Review construction drawings, specifications, design guides/standards
  • Support submittal review, RFI responses, and commissioning activities
  • Facilitate timely response and enable seamless project execution

Requirements For Senior Mechanical Engineer

  • Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field
  • Solid technical mechanical engineering experience
  • Must pass Microsoft Cloud background check
  • Knowledge of construction techniques and terminology
  • Working knowledge of Building Automation Systems (BAS), Direct-Digital Control (DDC), and Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC)
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
