Description For Senior Network Engineer

Microsoft's International Sovereign Platform Team (ISPT) is seeking an experienced Senior Network Engineer to join their growing team within the Azure Edge & Platform organization. This role focuses on designing and supporting specialized sovereign cloud environments that comply with specific country and regional data laws. The position involves creating and evolving networks that underpin Microsoft's sovereign clouds worldwide, with a particular emphasis on enabling secure cross-domain data transfer between Azure public cloud and sovereign cloud operations infrastructure.

The role requires deep expertise in networking, security, and cloud technologies, combining technical leadership with hands-on implementation. You'll be working in a highly regulated environment with critical security and sovereignty requirements, making this an exciting opportunity for someone who enjoys solving complex engineering challenges. Responsibilities For Senior Network Engineer

  • Design, implement and support networking capabilities in high-assurance environments
  • Champion and implement DevOps practices while maintaining security requirements
  • Lead design, network/code and security reviews across teams
  • Participate in 24/7/365 rotating on-call support
  • Collaborate across global organization as contact point between teams
  • Travel up to 25% to Sovereign Operations Centers
  • Ensure adherence to security standards and practices

Requirements For Senior Network Engineer

Linux
Python
  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent with multiple years of networking experience
  • Strong knowledge of L2/L3 Routing (BGP) & Switching, Firewalls, IPSEC VPN
  • Azure Fundamentals (AZ-900) or equivalent Cloud Certification
  • Very good German and English skills
  • Must pass Microsoft Cloud Background Check
  • Must meet citizenship requirements for German government agency work
