Description For Senior SoC Hardware Validation Engineer

Microsoft's Silicon, Cloud Hardware, and Infrastructure Engineering (SCHIE) team is seeking a Senior SoC Hardware Validation Engineer to join their cutting-edge custom silicon development efforts. This role is crucial in powering Microsoft's "Intelligent Cloud" mission, supporting over 200 online businesses including Azure, Office 365, Xbox Live, and Teams.

The position offers a competitive base salary range of $117,200 - $229,200 and requires 7+ years of technical engineering experience or equivalent education in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or Computer Science. The role is based in the Seattle area with a hybrid work arrangement allowing up to 50% work from home.

As a Senior SoC Hardware Validation Engineer, you'll be responsible for post-silicon validation, including functional, electrical, and power/performance aspects. You'll work with state-of-the-art technology, developing and implementing silicon debug tools, validation strategies, and test methodologies. The role requires deep expertise in computer architecture, SoC validation principles, and proficiency in languages like Python or C/C++.

Responsibilities For Senior SoC Hardware Validation Engineer

  • Own post-silicon validation of functional, electrical, or power/performance areas
  • Define and implement silicon debug tools and capabilities
  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to other engineers
  • Develop validation strategy, requirements, environments, tools, and methodologies
  • Write and implement test plans through test content, scripts, and tools
  • Execute content in post-silicon, triage and debug failures
  • Collaborate with architects, designers, and verification engineers
  • Provide technical leadership with respect and integrity

Requirements For Senior SoC Hardware Validation Engineer

Python
  • Bachelor's, Master's, or PhD in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or related field
  • Experience in Computer Architecture and CPU/SoC validation principles
  • Understanding of SoC subsystem and platform level functionality
  • Proficiency in Python or C/C++
  • Must pass Microsoft Cloud Background Check
  • Experience in verification, validation, or validation tools for CPU/SoC development
  • Understanding of board level schematics and system level software/firmware
  • Experience in hardware/software debug efforts
