Microsoft's Azure Data engineering team is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to join their databases team. The role focuses on building and maintaining Microsoft's operational Database systems, specifically within the Azure SQL DB Resource Governance team. You'll be responsible for managing millions of databases across various performance spectrums, from single-core allocations to entire machine utilization. The position involves working with serverless offerings, resource scaling, and optimization of database performance. The team's mission is to build the data platform for the age of AI, powering data-first applications and driving a data culture. This role offers the opportunity to work with cutting-edge database technology, cloud computing, and large-scale distributed systems.
Responsibilities For Senior Software Engineer
- Participate in all stages of cloud offering lifecycle
- Make data-driven decisions on database placement and load-balancing
- Increase the maximum number of databases hosted by SQL
- Extend serverless technology to other Azure SQLDB offerings
- Work on development, testing, debugging, and deployment
- Manage and optimize database systems across various performance spectrums
Requirements For Senior Software Engineer
- Bachelor's degree in computer science or related discipline
- 8+ years technical engineering experience with coding
- Proficiency with C++, and/or C#, solid knowledge of SQL
- Strong design, implementation and debugging skills
- Working knowledge of RDBMS
- Experience with at-scale distributed systems
- Experience with large-scale data analytics
