Description For Senior Structural Engineer

Microsoft is seeking a Senior Structural Engineer to join their Mixed Reality Hardware Mechanical Engineering team in Mountain View, CA. This role is crucial in designing the next generation of IVAS products for extremely rugged environments. The position offers a hybrid work arrangement with up to 50% work from home flexibility.

The ideal candidate will be responsible for ensuring product durability against drop, shock, mechanical and thermal loads, and other harsh environmental stresses. This role combines advanced technical expertise in structural analysis with hands-on engineering work, requiring both theoretical knowledge and practical application of finite element analysis (FEA) and mechanical testing.

The position offers competitive compensation ranging from $117,200 to $229,200 per year (higher in SF Bay Area), along with comprehensive benefits including industry-leading healthcare, educational resources, and parental leave. The role requires at least 4 years of relevant experience with a Bachelor's degree (or equivalent combinations with advanced degrees).

Key responsibilities include developing structural FEA models, leading problem-solving teams, validating structural models, and working closely with cross-functional engineering teams. The role requires expertise in tools like ANSYS and ABAQUS, along with proficiency in experimental stress analysis and material properties measurement.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced structural engineer looking to work on cutting-edge mixed reality hardware in a collaborative environment. The position offers the chance to make significant contributions to next-generation technology while working with a world-class team at one of the leading technology companies.
