Senior Thermal Engineer - The Mixed Reality Team

We are looking for a highly motivated Senior Thermal Engineer experienced in designing thermal solutions for Mixed Reality devices. The successful candidate will have the ability to create thermal architectures and designs supported by thermal simulation and experimentally validate the thermal solutions. A mix of technical breadth and depth is desired to tie electronics, optics, and mechanical design into compelling consumer experiences. Experience in thermal design of consumer electronics products is required. A record of innovation and experience in computational fluid dynamics (CFD), thermal measurements, mechanical and materials engineering to achieve performance and cost targets is required.

The role involves performing CFD simulation and calculations to accurately predict thermal behavior of electronic assemblies, validating models and verifying requirements at component, module, and system levels. The engineer will lead thermal design cross-functionally, influence mechanical integration and product design decisions by providing reliable data, analysis, and thermal insights. Communication of status and results to cross-functional teams and management is also a key responsibility.

Required Qualifications:

• Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field AND 4+ years related technical engineering experience (or equivalent combinations of education and experience)
• 2+ years experience using software such as Flo Electronic Fluid Dynamics (FloEFD) to perform CFD simulation and calculations
• 2+ years experience influencing mechanical integration and product design decisions through thermal insights

Preferred Qualifications:

• More advanced degrees or additional years of experience
• 3+ years experience in using Design of Experiments and statistical analysis of experimental data
• Proficiency in FloEFD
• Experience in solving Structural and Moisture Ingress problems using CFD, FEA, and materials engineering
• Demonstrated proficiency in applying System Engineering principles to design robust Thermal Systems
• Proficiency in using CFD tools, Excel, JMP, Creo, and Solidworks
