Description For Service Engineer II

Microsoft Digital (MSD) is seeking a Service Engineer II to join their Site Infrastructure Compute and Storage Engineering team. This role is crucial in maintaining the security and reliability of Microsoft's services in an era of increasing cyber threats. The position involves managing end-to-end infrastructure that provides comprehensive protection, working with on-premises Hyper-converged Infrastructure (HCI) servers and Azure Local within Microsoft's private, air-gapped cloud.

The role is part of the Infrastructure & Engineering Services team, where you'll leverage cutting-edge technologies focusing on automation and security. You'll be responsible for supporting critical internal services that serve Microsoft's entire engineering community. The position requires a strong background in systems administration, security practices, and automation capabilities.

As a Service Engineer II, you'll be working in Dublin, Ireland, contributing to Microsoft's mission of empowering every person and organization globally. Responsibilities For Service Engineer II

  • Drives efficiency by developing scripts and/or automation and leveraging telemetry data to identify patterns and trends
  • Responsible for the availability, reliability, efficiency, observability, and/or performance of supported infrastructure and services
  • Partners and shares technical expertise with interdisciplinary teams
  • Resolves issues with services, minimizes customer impact, and documents solutions
  • Conducts root cause analyses and shares end-to-end expertise in services
  • Adheres to security and compliance standards and works with security teams to identify and address issues

Requirements For Service Engineer II

Kubernetes
Python
  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field AND technical experience in software engineering, network engineering, service engineering, or systems engineering OR equivalent experience
  • Technical experience with large scale, on-premises compute and storage systems administration
  • Experience developing code, scripts, systems, and/or tools that support Infrastructure as Code and Automation
  • Must pass Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter
  • Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements
