Description For Service Engineering

Microsoft is seeking a Service Engineer/SRE to join their Azure Data Explorer (Kusto) team, a critical component powering log analytics across Microsoft and external customers. This role combines the excitement of big data innovation with the responsibility of maintaining high-availability services running on over 200,000 nodes.

The position offers a unique opportunity to work with a team that has grown from a small incubation project to a major cloud service provider in just 10 years. As an SRE, you'll be responsible for ensuring the reliability and performance of systems that numerous Microsoft teams and external customers depend on for their operations.

The ideal candidate will bring 2+ years of technical experience, strong programming skills (particularly in .NET, PowerShell, Python, or C#), and a proven track record in troubleshooting cloud-based systems. You'll be part of a global team operating on a "follow the Sun" model, ensuring 24/7 service availability.

Key responsibilities include live site management, customer support, automation development, and system design. You'll work in a hybrid environment (up to 50% work from home) with competitive compensation ranging from $98,300 to $193,200 annually (varies by location).

Microsoft offers comprehensive benefits including industry-leading healthcare, educational resources, parental leave, and investment opportunities. The company's commitment to diversity, inclusion, and work-life balance makes it an ideal place for passionate innovators looking to make a significant impact in the cloud computing and big data space.

Join a team that values customer focus, technical excellence, and continuous innovation, while working on technology that powers data analytics for some of the world's largest organizations.
