Site Reliability Engineer II

Microsoft is seeking a Site Reliability Engineer II to join their Azure Data group, specifically working on the SQL Database team. This role is crucial in ensuring the reliability and serviceability of Azure SQL Database and Managed Instance, two of Microsoft's key cloud database services.

As a Site Reliability Engineer, you will be responsible for:

1. Ensuring smooth operation of Azure SQL Database and Managed Instance with required reliability and availability.
2. Designing and implementing software to automatically resolve issues.
3. Collaborating with feature teams to design, implement, and release reliable and serviceable features.
4. Troubleshooting and resolving complex problems across the entire stack of database technology.
5. Implementing solutions to improve service health, manageability, reliability, and telemetry.
6. Owning, triaging, investigating, and resolving service issues.
7. Interacting with customers for escalated support issues.
8. Mentoring and developing training for team members.

The ideal candidate will have:

• 3+ years of software development or SQL product support experience.
• Strong debugging skills using tools like Windbg, Visual Studio, and Xperf.
• Deep understanding of SQL Server/Azure SQL Database concepts.
• Proficiency in programming languages such as C#, Java, and ability to read C/C++ code.
• Experience with Windows Operating System concepts and cloud-scale systems.
