Software Engineer II

Microsoft Azure Edge + Platform (E+P) is seeking a Software Engineer II to join their globally distributed team. This role is part of the Azure Edge and Platform division, responsible for creating the most reliable and trustworthy OS and platform services to empower Microsoft and its customers.

As a Software Engineer II, you will be at the forefront of designing and implementing next-generation Edge + Platform products and services for customers worldwide. This position requires solid technical skills, with in-depth knowledge and experience in analyzing data and requirements, designing, developing, and releasing services or products to end users.

Key responsibilities include:

• Contributing to the team culture as a solid individual contributor
• Planning and prioritizing work for world-class cloud services
• Designing and implementing scalable, highly available services for the core Edge Developer Platform
• Transforming loosely defined ideas into tangible designs
• Driving implementation and execution to bring visions to life
• Implementing scalable, maintainable, and efficient code

The ideal candidate will have:

• A Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical discipline
• 2+ years of technical engineering experience with coding in languages such as C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python
• Experience in developing and designing Operating Systems components like filesystems, storage, and networking
• Knowledge of Microsoft Azure, AWS, or similar cloud computing platforms
• Experience with Kubernetes and familiarity with open-source services in the Kubernetes ecosystem
• Expertise in Agile engineering practices

This role offers a competitive salary range of $98,300 - $193,200 per year (higher in San Francisco and New York City areas), along with excellent benefits including industry-leading healthcare, educational resources, savings and investments, parental leave, and generous time off.
