Description For Founding Engineer #1

Misprint is revolutionizing the collectibles trading market by creating a transparent, real-time marketplace specifically designed for trading card enthusiasts. As the Founding Engineer #1, you'll play a crucial role in shaping both the technical architecture and culture of the company.

The tech stack includes Next.js, Supabase, and React Native, focusing on building a platform that brings stock-market efficiency to Pokémon cards and beyond. You'll work directly with founders Eva Herget (CEO), a former Goldman Sachs analyst turned Pokémon finance YouTuber, and Jon (CTO), a mathematician and ML expert.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Building and scaling the marketplace across web and mobile platforms
  • Architecting and optimizing the Supabase backend for real-time trading & analytics
  • Implementing scalable data models, APIs, and real-time features
  • Setting engineering best practices and laying groundwork for team growth

The role offers significant ownership, immediate impact, and the opportunity to shape product direction. You'll be working in a fast-paced environment where speed and innovation are prioritized over bureaucracy.

The company is backed by Y Combinator and is transforming how collectors value and trade their treasures. The platform's unique features include instant listing capabilities (20x faster than competitors), sophisticated ML-driven pricing analysis, and real-time market data.

This is an ideal opportunity for someone who combines technical expertise with a passion for innovation in fintech, collectibles, or marketplace platforms. You'll be joining at the ground floor of a high-potential startup, with competitive compensation including both salary and equity, and the future opportunity to lead and grow an engineering team.
