Description For Lead Software Engineer

As a Lead Software Engineer, you'll be working in a cross-discipline team with a modern tech stack and a platform powering multiple brands. You'll be implementing everything you know and everything you'll learn to change our operational experience and improve customer care across the whole £1tn industry.

Key Responsibilities Include:

  • Hands-on development and lead the development within a squad / team
  • Collaborate closely with product and data members
  • Ensure we continue as product and outcome led teams / squads
  • Accountable for all technical decisions and architectural choices within the squad
  • Line management responsibility for 1-3 developers
  • Lead teams and maintain standards within and across teams
  • Own multiple domains across the business and ensure alignment with company goals
  • Work with security and compliance
  • Proactively identify dependencies and patterns across the organisation
  • Provide guidance and support to members across various teams
  • Identify product and tooling opportunities that drive revenue and overall business impact

We're looking for someone who:

  • Is pragmatic and delivers effective solutions based on measurable outcomes
  • Has a strong understanding of web apps and related tech stacks
  • Is familiar with React, Node.js, AWS Lambdas, ECS, Serverless, and Typescript (helpful, but not required)
  • Can manage CI/CD pipelines and deployments
  • Has AWS/DevOps knowledge (a plus)
  • Has CLI skills (not mandatory, but helpful)
