Senior Engineer

Mollie, a leading payment service provider in Europe, is expanding its Engineering department with a new hub in Milan, Italy. As a Senior Engineer in the Merchant Monitoring team, you'll play a crucial role in building technologies to detect malicious or insolvent merchants, ensuring Mollie's profitability and compliance with regulations like anti-money laundering.

You'll be working in a cross-functional team with Engineers, Data and ML specialists, focusing on enhancing existing tools and developing new ones using monitoring algorithms based on streaming and machine learning. Your responsibilities will include building solid foundations for the Java ecosystem, developing large-scale services, and designing APIs and systems across Mollie's engineering teams.

The ideal candidate will have at least 7 years of experience in developing large-scale web applications, with strong knowledge of Java and Service Oriented Architecture patterns. Experience with public cloud platforms (GCP, AWS, or Azure) and building scalable systems for data-intensive applications is essential. You should also possess creative problem-solving skills and excellent communication abilities.

Additional desirable skills include experience in fast-paced environments, knowledge of Google Cloud Platform, machine learning, event streaming, and distributed systems. Familiarity with microservices architecture and previous work in the Payments or FinTech sector would be advantageous.
