Responsibilities For EHS Engineer

  • Promote safety culture and health protection among supervisors and employees
  • Lead job hazard analysis and hazard assessments
  • Train associates in safety and environmental awareness
  • Evaluate chemical hazards, develop safety data sheets and conduct ergonomic assessments
  • Manage occupational safety and health protection documentation
  • Organize first aid, emergency medical care and fire protection
  • Coordinate with senior leadership on EHS programs
  • Serve as reference person with the state of Michigan regarding EHS
  • Coordinate with local AHJs during permitting, inspections, and audits
  • Coordinate with contractors for training, inspections, and hazardous materials
  • Maintain EHS related databases

Requirements For EHS Engineer

  • 3+ years working as a EHS professional in industrial environment with chemical production/processing or high-power electronics development
  • Bachelors or Masters degree in engineering field, preferably electrical or chemical engineering
  • Knowledge of local and national codes and standards for OHS and workplace safety
  • Knowledge of chemical safety hazards and safety risks analysis (HAZOP)
  • Experience as primary representative to local AHJs and EHS-related contractors
  • Strong verbal communication skills
  • Proficient with MS products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
  • Preferred: membership in EHS professional associations and/or active licenses/certifications
