Nava is seeking a Sr. Software Engineer (Backend) to work on small teams building scalable infrastructure for government services. You'll design, implement, and deliver services that millions of Americans depend on. The role involves developing end-to-end systems for one of Nava's major government partners, extending the client's existing codebase using mainly DevOps, Javascript, and Python. You'll be responsible for creating secure and equitable experiences for the public, collaborating with government partners, and working in an agile manner. The ideal candidate should have at least 6 years of hands-on professional experience, strong backend & DevOps skills, and a passion for building large-scale systems that are inclusive, well-designed, fast, scalable, and secure. Responsibilities For Sr. Software Engineer (Backend)
- Design, review, and build well-crafted software
- Collaborate with government partners and other contractors
- Work in an agile manner to efficiently ship new features
- Create tools and processes to automate development, testing, and production workflows
- Write and review technical documentation, and perform code reviews
- Participate in an on-call rotation to support production systems
- Take part in hiring activities
Requirements For Sr. Software Engineer (Backend)
- At least 6 years of hands-on professional work experience building web applications and creating APIs
- Experience with backend & DevOps skills, Java Spring, Kubernetes, and SQL/RDS
- Understanding of web and mobile user interface design best practices
- Familiarity with web accessibility standards
- Strong communication and cross-functional collaboration skills
- Ability to think strategically around trade-offs
- Excellent written and real-time communication, technical and otherwise
