Description For Data Center Deployment Engineer L4/L5

Netflix is seeking a Data Center Deployment Engineer L4/L5 to join their Engineering Operations team. This role is crucial in managing the deployment, upgrade, and preparation of 100+ edge data centers for Netflix's Open Connect content delivery network. The ideal candidate will collaborate with cross-functional teams, manage multiple concurrent deployments, and drive process improvements. Key responsibilities include project management of infrastructure deployments, vendor management, documentation creation, and technical leadership. The role requires expertise in networking concepts, data center operations, and strong project management skills. This position offers the opportunity to work on cutting-edge technology that supports Netflix's global entertainment service, delivering content to millions of members worldwide.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage design, planning, deployment, and refreshing of network and content serving infrastructure
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams and external vendors
  • Produce comprehensive documentation for all stages of deployments
  • Create bills of materials and manage remote hands vendors
  • Lead complex network upgrades and migrations
  • Troubleshoot networking, power, cooling, and fiber issues
  • Provide mentorship and technical leadership

Requirements:

  • 5+ years of experience in Edge Networks and Data Centers
  • Strong project management and problem-solving skills
  • Expertise in networking concepts and protocols
  • Deep understanding of power standards and Layer 1 knowledge
  • Experience with server and network hardware configuration
  • Willingness to travel for quarterly off-sites and occasional project site visits
