Description For Data Visualization Engineer (L5) - Product

Netflix, a global entertainment leader with 283 million subscribers, is seeking a Senior Data Visualization Engineer to join their Infrastructure Analytics team. This role sits at the intersection of data visualization, infrastructure engineering, and strategic decision-making.

The position involves creating sophisticated visualization tools that provide insights into Netflix's extensive infrastructure, including their AWS usage (as AWS's biggest customer) and their custom-built content delivery network, Open Connect. You'll work alongside Analytics Engineers, Data Engineers, and Data Scientists to build and optimize a suite of infrastructure visualizations that drive better decision-making.

As a Staff-level engineer, you'll be responsible for crafting compelling data narratives and building user-centric visualization tools using modern technologies like TypeScript, React, and Python. The role requires expertise in both technical implementation and strategic thinking, as you'll work directly with engineering leadership and Strategy, Planning & Analysis partners.

The compensation is highly competitive, ranging from $170,000 to $720,000, with a flexible structure allowing you to choose between salary and stock options. Netflix offers comprehensive benefits including health coverage, mental health support, 401(k) with employer match, and generous time-off policies.

The ideal candidate should have extensive experience in data visualization, web application development, and data engineering. You'll need to be comfortable working in an agile environment with minimal oversight, excel at cross-functional collaboration, and have exceptional communication skills. This is an opportunity to impact how one of the world's leading streaming services optimizes its infrastructure through data-driven decisions.

Netflix's unique culture values inclusion, diversity, and independent decision-making. The role offers the chance to work remotely while contributing to cutting-edge infrastructure analytics at a global scale. If you're passionate about telling stories with data and want to help shape how Netflix uses its infrastructure more effectively, this role presents an exciting opportunity to make a significant impact.
