Description For Distributed Systems Engineer (L5) - Platform Engineering

Netflix, a global entertainment powerhouse with 283 million paid memberships, is seeking a Distributed Systems Engineer for their Platform Engineering team. This role sits at the heart of Netflix's massive cloud infrastructure, which has been pioneering cloud technology for 15 years on AWS. The position focuses on transforming Netflix's cloud infrastructure control planes towards a platform enabling high-level declarative infrastructure orchestration.

The role involves building and operating critical distributed systems that manage compute, network, and storage services, enabling developers to create groundbreaking applications that serve hundreds of millions of customers worldwide. You'll work with cutting-edge technologies like Temporal, Java, Kotlin, and Go, while being responsible for some of Netflix's most critical Tier-0 Control Planes.

The ideal candidate should be comfortable with ambiguity, take an incremental approach to solving complex problems, and be self-driven. You'll be working in Netflix's unique culture that values independent thinking and innovation. The position offers competitive compensation ($100,000 - $720,000) with the flexibility to choose between salary and stock options, comprehensive benefits, and the opportunity to work on some of the most challenging distributed systems problems at scale.

This is an excellent opportunity for experienced engineers who want to push the boundaries of cloud infrastructure and work on problems that few companies encounter.
