Distributed Systems Engineer (L5) - Traffic Engineering

Netflix is seeking a Distributed Systems Engineer (L5) for their Traffic Engineering team. As part of this team, you'll be at the forefront of tackling complex challenges in optimizing for speed and scale, driving cloud resiliency, and contributing to live event streaming. You'll build and operate services for end-to-end traffic management, including region failover and traffic shaping. The role involves working with cloud-native technologies, L4-L7 networking, and traffic management technologies. You'll also collaborate with Data Science engineers to develop predictive traffic shaping models for handling large traffic spikes during live events.

Key responsibilities include:

• Building and operating services, APIs, and tooling for scaling live events, streaming, and other business use cases
• Developing highly reliable distributed systems in a cloud environment
• Engaging with engineering users to understand and improve their experience
• Solving business needs at scale with high-quality solutions

The ideal candidate should have 7+ years of professional Software Engineering experience, expertise in traffic management technologies, and proficiency in languages like Go, Python, or Java. Experience with live event streaming at scale is a plus.
