Description For Engineering Manager, Content Acquisition

Netflix, a global entertainment powerhouse with 283 million subscribers across 190+ countries, is seeking an Engineering Manager for their Content Acquisition team. This role sits at the intersection of technology and entertainment, focusing on systems that manage content rights, music rights, and legal workflows.

The position offers an exceptional opportunity to lead a substantial engineering team (12+ engineers) working on critical systems that power Netflix's content acquisition and rights management infrastructure. You'll be responsible for developing and maintaining technologies that handle the entire deal lifecycle, from initial negotiations to contract management and rights exploitation.

The role demands a unique blend of technical leadership and business acumen. You'll work closely with Product, Design, and Data Science teams across four key areas: Content Rights, Music Rights, Copyright Protection, and Business and Legal Affairs. The position requires someone who can not only manage technical implementations but also drive product direction when needed.

What makes this role particularly exciting is its impact on Netflix's core business operations. You'll be working on systems that directly influence how Netflix acquires and manages its vast content library, which is fundamental to the company's success. The position offers exposure to cutting-edge AI applications in legal and business workflows, and the opportunity to work with contract lifecycle management tools at scale.

Netflix offers a competitive compensation package ranging from $190,000 to $920,000, with the flexibility to choose between salary and stock options. The company provides comprehensive benefits including health plans, mental health support, 401(k) with employer match, and generous time-off policies. The role is based in Los Angeles, requiring an in-person presence to facilitate close collaboration with stakeholders.

The ideal candidate will bring experience in building enterprise-scale systems, managing large engineering teams, and navigating complex stakeholder relationships. You'll join a diverse, inclusive team that values different perspectives and encourages wearing multiple hats. This is an opportunity to shape the future of how one of the world's leading entertainment companies manages its content acquisition and rights management processes.
