Description For Engineering Manager, UI Component Library & Lifecycle

Netflix is seeking an experienced Engineering Manager to lead the UI Component Library & Lifecycle team. This role is part of the broader JS Platform organization, championing UI application teams at Netflix. The mission is to empower teams to easily create, share, and discover UI components and libraries, reducing complexity in building and managing software. The team will be responsible for the internal design system (Hawkins Professional) and a new inner source platform for discovering, publishing, and managing the lifecycle of UI components across the platform.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Partnering with the Product Manager to define and execute long-term vision
  • Defining success metrics and driving execution
  • Creating strong partnerships with Netflix engineers
  • Working closely with various stakeholders to ensure tools meet user needs
  • Driving continuous improvements and staying updated with industry trends
  • Fostering an inclusive and psychologically safe engineering team

The ideal candidate should have:

  • Experience leading developer tooling or design system engineering teams
  • Understanding of modern front-end technologies (React, JavaScript/TypeScript, Node.js)
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Experience working in cross-functional and international teams
  • Strong product intuition and decision-making abilities
