As an L4 Network Engineer, you'll be responsible for engineering and operating the Open Connect Global backbone and egress connectivity. The role involves participating in an on-call rotation, troubleshooting operational problems, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure optimal network performance across 90+ locations worldwide.
Key responsibilities include managing network reliability, implementing automation solutions, and working with external partners and vendors. Responsibilities For Network Engineer (L4) Open Connect
- Take on defined tasks and problems within projects, driving short-term goals
- Participate in the on-call rotation to support network reliability and performance
- Handle well-defined tasks contributing to medium to larger efforts
- Address simple to moderate operational problems
- Assist in operating, maintaining, and upgrading the Open Connect network infrastructure
- Collaborate with team members and vendors to support global network growth
- Participate in efforts to improve network resiliency, observability, monitoring, and automation
- Work with external partners, carriers, data center providers, and hardware vendors
- Support the Network Architecture team in implementing network designs
- Collaborate with the Network Tools team to enhance automation processes
Requirements For Network Engineer (L4) Open Connect
- Professional experience in network engineering or related field
- Basic understanding of Live Streaming infrastructure and operations
- Familiarity with multi-vendor wide area networks (Arista, Cisco, Juniper)
- Solid understanding of IP routing, particularly BGP
- Solid understanding of internet ecosystem, including interconnection, peering, and transit concepts
- Familiarity with network automation and basic scripting/programming experience
- Ability to execute changes within team's systems
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Willingness to participate in on-call rotation
- Ability to travel quarterly for offsites and conferences
