Netflix is seeking a Network Engineer (L5) for the Open Connect team. The role involves managing and operating the Open Connect Global backbone and egress connectivity, which is crucial for Netflix's streaming service. Key responsibilities include:
- Interacting with team members to operate, maintain, and upgrade network infrastructure in 90+ locations worldwide
- Collaborating with internal teams and vendors to manage continuous growth while maintaining high Quality of Experience (QoE)
- Driving improvements in resiliency, observability, monitoring, instrumentation, and automation
- Working with external partners, carriers, data center providers, and hardware vendors
- Contributing to network architecture implementation and support
- Developing automation to increase accuracy and efficiency in daily activities
- Participating in on-call rotations and occasional travel
Required skills and experience:
- Expert knowledge of large-scale multi-vendor wide area networks (Arista, Cisco, Juniper)
- Expert knowledge of IP routing, particularly BGP and IS-IS
- Experience with internet ecosystem, interconnection, peering, and transit
- Familiarity with MPLS, QoS, and DWDM concepts and technologies
- Network automation experience using Python
- Strong communication and documentation skills
