Description For Security Engineer (L5), Cloud Security

Netflix, a global entertainment powerhouse with 278 million paid memberships, is seeking a Cloud Security Engineer (L5) to join their Security Engineering Organization. This role focuses on designing and implementing cloud security patterns for Netflix's expanding business verticals including Live Streaming, Ads, and Games. The position combines strategic thinking with hands-on cloud security expertise, working within one of the world's most sophisticated AWS environments.

The role is integral to Netflix's Cloud Security team, responsible for securing their AWS-based streaming service control plane. You'll work with mature cloud security tooling, including Infrastructure as Code, secure configuration orchestration, and cloud access management systems. While not primarily a development role, you'll contribute to cloud security strategy and operations, collaborating closely with both software and platform engineering teams.

The ideal candidate brings strong AWS/GCP security knowledge, particularly in cloud IAM, with the ability to translate business needs into effective security solutions. You'll thrive in Netflix's unique culture, which values empathetic accountability, candid feedback, and proactive communication. The position offers competitive compensation ($100,000-$720,000) with the flexibility to choose between salary and stock options, plus comprehensive benefits including health plans, 401(k) matching, and generous time off.

This is an excellent opportunity for security professionals who want to impact cloud security at scale, working with Netflix's open-source tools like ConsoleMe, Weep, and Repokid. The role offers the chance to shape security strategies for emerging products while contributing to one of the most advanced cloud security environments in tech.
