Description For Software Engineer (L5) - Security Platforms Engineering

Netflix's Security Platforms Engineering (SPE) team is seeking a Staff Software Engineer to join either their Security Posture Insights & Management (SPOT) or Engineering Controls Automation Team (ECAT). SPE focuses on scaling Netflix's security insights and controls through unified data, automated risk reduction, and context-aware security guidance. The role involves working with cutting-edge security solutions for one of the world's leading entertainment services, serving 283 million members across 190+ countries.

The position offers two distinct paths: SPOT team members will own the backend powering Pelorus, focusing on security posture insights and data-informed decision making. ECAT team members will drive engineering security controls automation, addressing software vulnerabilities across Netflix's engineering ecosystem. Both roles require strong Python development skills, system design expertise, and a deep understanding of security principles.

This is an excellent opportunity for security-minded engineers who want to make a significant impact on Netflix's global security infrastructure. The role offers competitive compensation ($100,000-$720,000), comprehensive benefits, and the flexibility of remote work. The ideal candidate will bring a collaborative approach to security, strong technical skills, and the ability to balance pragmatic solutions with security requirements.

Working at Netflix means joining a culture that values inclusion, diversity, and thoughtful decision-making. The role provides the opportunity to work with cutting-edge technology while protecting one of the world's largest entertainment platforms, including their expanding live content offerings like WWE events and NFL games.
