Description For Robot Software Engineer Intern

Neuralink is at the forefront of brain-computer interface technology, developing innovative solutions to help people with paralysis regain mobility and independence. As a Robot Software Engineer Intern on the Robot Software Team, you'll be working on cutting-edge surgical robotics that integrate with microelectromechanical systems and novel surgical procedures.

The role offers a unique opportunity to work on safety-critical software that directly impacts surgical procedures. You'll be responsible for developing software that controls actual surgical robots, not just simulations, requiring high-precision, high-repeatability mechanical motion, and fail-safe design principles. This position involves cross-functional collaboration with mechanical, electrical, biological, and neuroscience teams.

The ideal candidate will have strong programming skills in systems languages like C, C++, and Rust, with a focus on performance and safety-critical systems. Experience with robotics, Linux systems, computer vision, and medical robots is highly valued. You'll be working in an environment that values meritocracy, transparent communication, and rigorous technical discourse.

What makes this role exceptional is the direct impact you'll have on developing technology that could revolutionize medical treatment and human capability enhancement. You'll be working alongside some of the brightest minds in the field, with the opportunity to contribute to surgery-ready software as an intern. The company offers competitive compensation, comprehensive benefits, and the chance to be part of a mission to expand human potential through brain-computer interface technology.

This internship is perfect for someone who is passionate about robotics, medical technology, and writing high-performance, safety-critical software. You'll gain invaluable experience in a fast-paced environment where your work directly contributes to advancing the frontier of human-machine interaction and medical technology.
